The first step to install laminate flooring is to acclimate your wooden flooring for 48 hours. Make sure you do this step to prevent any buckling that could happen after the installation. While you wait for the wooden planks to acclimate with your room temperature, measure the size of your room, how wide and long of your room, by using a tape measure, make the layout plans for the wooden planks to make sure the wooden flooring can cover up entire floor and to prevent the oversized planks. Next, remove your molding baseboard. Remove all of your existing baseboard using Prybar before laying out the planks. After that, lay out the underlayment on the floor. Make sure it covers all space on your floor, remove any debris and nails before laying out the underlayment.
Now, lay out the first row. Make sure you leave at least ¼ inch of gap between the wooden planks and the walls. Layout another wooden planks, until the last row, is finished. Now, you will need to cut the wooden casing for 1/16 height of the wood laminate flooring in order to make sure the wooden planks are fit there. Reinstall your molding baseboard using finishing nails and hammer. For the finishing touch, you can add paint or wax to make your wooden planks scratch and stain resistant.
